Orca Asset Management LLC, a Greenwich, Conn., investment advisory firm, has hired Anne C. Stivala as its head of research.
Most recently Ms. Stivala led a team of credit analysts at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers who followed more than 300 financial institution investment-grade credits. She worked at Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. for more than 20 years.
Orca was founded last year by Kevin Meenan, its chief executive officer, and Kevin Mirabile, its chief operating officer. It launched its first fund in April.
MIDDLE ATLANTICDeutsche Bank Securities Inc. of New York has hired David Platt as a managing director in its global banking division's mergers and acquisitions group for the Americas.
He reports to Jean Manas, the head of the M&A group.
Mr. Platt had been a managing director in Bank of America Corp.'s M&A group. Earlier he had been a director in the M&A group at Citigroup Inc. Before that he had worked at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Inc. and, earlier, at Fidelity Investments.
ING Investment Management, the U.S. asset management arm of ING Group NV, has promoted Robert G. Leary to chief executive officer.
He will start his new job Sept. 4 and will succeed Robert W. Crispin. Mr. Leary will become the unit's chairman on Dec. 31, when Mr. Crispin will retire.
Most recently Mr. Leary was an executive vice president at AIG Financial Products Corp., a financial products subsidiary of American International Group Inc. Before that he had developed derivatives and structured products for institutions at J.P. Morgan & Co.
He began his career as a lawyer with White & Case LLP.
SOUTHEASTRegions Financial Corp. of Birmingham, Ala., has promoted Brad Kimbrough to controller and chief accounting officer.
Mr. Kimbrough, an executive vice president, will continue to oversee corporate accounting.
He joined Regions last year, when it bought AmSouth Bancorp., which he joined in 1993.
He succeeded Al Yother, who remains chief financial officer, a position he was given in April.
SOUTHWESTPromontory Interfinancial Network LLC, an Arlington, Va., provider of deposit placement services, has hired Chuck McBrayer as its regional director for Texas and Oklahoma.
Mr. McBrayer was a senior member sales officer for six years at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas. Earlier he had worked in the treasury department at Associates First Capital Corp.
